But there’s 1 thing I can’t understand: how, just how could it be possible for You to gain 4,4 pounds of muscle mass in 3 days of water fast? How can that happen even hypothetically?

@Arumenuyama it’s an interesting question that I even questioned. Couple thoughts… huge boost in HGH, and testosterone, plus high amounts of physical activity activating multiple muscle groups during that entire time.
@Dr. Nick Zyrowski Well, huge benefits of fasting, including hormonal, are well known, but… The material?! Where could the material for muscle come?! Even if we take autophagy/protein recycling into the account, it should theoretically be maintenance at best, cause extra doesn’t come from anywhere… And, on top of that, for muscle mass 4,4 pounds in 3 days is HUGE, sounds almost impossible. A real enigma here…
That’s impressive. I’ve always thought of doing a fast of some sort…..I already do intermittent fasting but I’ve always been afraid of doing the big one. Now I think I’ll give it a try…

Thanks for another great video! I want to try this metabolic body composition scanner. Which one did you use? Started doing weekly 36-48 hour fasts plus 2 meals a day and it has helped me to maintain a healthy weight and feel great.
Look for a dexa scan near you. Otherwise we do scans in my clinic.

I did 3 days water fast many times and one time 4 days ….
FYI Assyrain Christian in Iraq have one fast once a year a *3 days dry fast * no food no drink fir 72 hours, breaking Fast should be a vegetarian soup or meals
HGH is elevated when fasting, the best time to build muscle.
What really would be interesting is how fast all the benefits go away after you go back to your daily eating schedule.? I’ve been on Carnavoish KETO / OMAD for 6 years I lost 100 lbs in the first 8 month and have maintained that for 5 years ..I still have plenty of fat and it is improving very very slowly I’ve gained some weight about 12 Lbs from my all time low of 158 Lbs but its all muscle so I’m not bitching ..But it seems that every time I try a fast over 36 hours to speed thing up I gain weight in the fallowing days or week and also visceral fat . So I freak out and go back to my OMAD / KETO life. BTW I’m 60 5’8″ 170 Lbs now, 6 years ago I was a 258 fat bastard LOL.
I have not experienced gaining it back. Maybe watch calorie intake and see if you compensate for those days you didn’t eat with eating enormous amounts of calories after.

They only last as long as you maintain them. One weekend of a high carb / sugar bender would certainly do some damage on any positive results.

I lose over 2 pounds a day when I do a water fast but thats because im obese. I usually do a 5-7 day water fast by the end of each month to double my weight loss. Keep in mind if you go back to eating junk food after a fast, you will gain 2-4 lbs which is water weight.

It would be interesting to do a similar analysis on your body when following I.F. low carb, high protein etc and combine it with CGM data
