Relating so much 😣 I have hypermobility and my joints can bend further than normal. I always have to think about it when I work out, stretch or practicing yoga because bending too far is damaging for our bodies.
I have always been flexible and over 15 years ago I learned why I could bend my body so easily , because I have hypermobility.
If you have it, it’s easier to dislocate parts of your body so it’s important to build strong muscles in those areas because it helps to prevent injuries and also be aware of how you use your body when you do different excerises.
For example, when I stand up my knees goes back more then they should which puts alot of pressure on my joints so when I work out I have to bend my knees a tiny bit so it looks normal to prevent my legs from getting damaged now or in the future. 😊

I have hypermobility syndrome and honestly, yes – this is me every time lol. However, I still need to build up the muscles so I can actually keep my arms straight.

This is called hyperextension (not double jointed cause that doesn’t exist lmao) and it’s called by a different bone structure in the elbow. Basically the way the forearm bones join onto the humerus is slightly different so the “stopping point” for lack of a better term isn’t at 180 degrees.
This doesn’t really seem to have an effect for an individual but there is a slightly decreased strength in the arms BUT a faster extension time for the arm.

Yup I always have and probably always will be able to do that. It makes my arms twist easily too so I can go almost 360 degrees. There is a down side though, if I’m wearing long sleeves my arms are like crooked somehow; for example if there are those thumb holes they are always like opposite of my thumbs and stuff. Anyways I digress.
